Effective date: June 4, 2026
Nib lets you refine text with AI — either by selecting text in an editable field on a website, or by typing text into Nib's own toolbar popup. It activates only when you choose to refine text (select and click "Refine," right-click "Refine selection," or use the toolbar popup).
When you refine text, the text you selected or entered is sent to our backend endpoint (an Azure Function we operate), which forwards it to Microsoft Azure OpenAI to generate a rewritten version that is returned to you. We process only the text you explicitly choose to refine.
Text is processed by Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service to produce the rewrite, acting as our service provider. Microsoft does not use Azure OpenAI input/output to train its models. See Microsoft's data, privacy, and security documentation for the Azure OpenAI Service for details.
None. We keep no copy of your selected text or the AI output.
Your selected text is transmitted over HTTPS. The AI provider's API key is held only on our server (the Azure Function) and is never included in the extension.
The extension runs on the websites where you write so it can detect your text selection and show its interface. It reads only the text you actively select — never page content at large, and never on its own.
This extension is not directed to children under 13.
We may update this policy. The effective date above will change accordingly.
