FilterVault — Privacy Policy

FilterVault is a browser extension that lets you save the filters you apply on supported shopping websites and reapply them later with one click. Your privacy is simple to explain, because FilterVault has no servers and collects no personal data.

In short

Everything FilterVault saves stays inside your own browser (and your own Google account, if you have Chrome Sync enabled). We never receive, see, sell, or transmit your data to any server we control. There is no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking.

1. Who this policy covers

This policy applies to the FilterVault browser extension ("the extension", "we", "us"). It describes what the extension stores, why, and the choices you have.

2. What the extension stores

FilterVault stores only the data needed to make your saved filters work. This is created by you when you click "Save", and consists of:

A name you give the preset.
The website it belongs to (e.g. Amazon, Flipkart).
The search term and the filter values you applied (for example a price range or brand).
Timestamps (when the preset was created and last updated).
Your auto-apply preferences (a global on/off setting and per-preset toggles).

This data is stored using the browser's built-in chrome.storage.sync mechanism. If you are signed in to your browser with Chrome Sync enabled, the browser itself may sync this data across your own devices through your Google account. That syncing is handled entirely by Google and your browser — not by FilterVault.

3. What the extension does not collect

No names, emails, passwords, or account details.
No payment or financial information.
No general browsing history — the extension only reads the current page's URL on the supported shopping sites listed below, and only to detect the site, search term, and applied filters.
No analytics, telemetry, cookies, fingerprinting, or advertising identifiers.
Nothing is sent to any FilterVault server, because FilterVault operates no servers.

4. Permissions and why they are needed

Permission	Why FilterVault uses it
`storage`	To save your presets and settings in your browser (as described above).
`tabs`	To read the active tab's URL so the extension knows which supported site and search you are on, and to navigate the tab when you apply or clear filters.
Site access (host permissions)	Limited to the supported shopping sites only. Used to read the current search/filter URL and to show a small in-page quick-action button. FilterVault cannot access any other website.

Supported sites: Flipkart, Amazon (amazon.in), Myntra, Ajio, Nykaa, Meesho, and Croma.

5. Third-party services

FilterVault does not integrate any analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only external request it makes is to Google's public favicon service (google.com/s2/favicons) to display a website's icon next to your saved presets. The request identifies the supported site's public domain (for example amazon.in) and, like a normal web request, may expose connection information such as your IP address, browser user agent, and applicable Google cookies to Google. It may also indicate which supported shopping site's icon was requested. It never includes your preset names, search terms, or saved filter values.

6. How your data is used

Stored presets are used solely to display your saved filters and to rebuild the corresponding filtered URL when you choose to apply one. The data never leaves your browser except through the optional Chrome Sync described in Section 2.

7. Data retention and deletion

You are in full control of your data:

Delete an individual preset from the extension's popup or manager page.
Use "Disable all" / delete presets to clear auto-apply behavior.
Uninstalling the extension removes its stored data from your browser. Data previously synced by Chrome Sync is removed according to your browser/Google account settings.

8. Children's privacy

FilterVault is a general-purpose shopping utility and is not directed to children under 13. It collects no personal information from anyone.

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same URL with a new "Last updated" date. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
